The Federal Government, Tuesday, shed more light on why it terminated the concession it signed with Bi Courtney Consortium on the redevelopment of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway saying the company's failure to submit a duly completed Performance Bond as contained in agreement as one of them.

The federal government, Monday, revoked the concession agreement and contracted two construction firms, Julius Berger Plc., and R.C.C. Nigeria Limited to start work immediately on the reconstruction of the expressway.

Other conditions, the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen listed were; “failure to submit copies of the construction Contract as required by the agreement; failure to submit copies of the Financial Agreement as provided in the agreement; failure to submit copies of the Operations and Maintenance Contract as stated in the agreement; failure to carry out construction work despite access to the site since September 2009; abandonment of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the site, among others.”

He said Julius Berger would handle Section 1 of the road from Lagos to Shagamu Interchange, and that R.C.C. Nigeria Limited would be responsible for Section II, from Shagamu to Ibadan.
