A couple committed suicide after having a fight with their daughter-in-law over splashing water from the bathtub, according to a statement released by police in Malaysia.

The elderly couple committed suicide because their daughter-in-law filed a police complaint against them after a fight in Thiruvallur, Chennai.
Police said Nakshatiram, 65, and Jothi, 60, were living with their son Adhisayam, 43, daughter-in-law Chitra, 40, and their granddaughter Mayanthi, 13, at the time the incident happened.

Police said that Mayanthi took a bath and had splashed some water on her grandmother, by mistake. After the incident, the grandmother yelled at her granddaughter and daughter-in-law.

The daughter-in-law became angry with her grandmother for punishing the child, so she started a fight. Her father-in-law intervened and tried to calm down the women.

Chitra, not wanting to let go of the matter, called the police, saying that her father-in-law had tried to rape her.
Police came to the house and investigated the matter.
The next morning, Adhisayam went to wake up his parents, but was surprised to discover that they were unconscious.
The elderly couple was rushed to Thiruvallur hospital where they were pronounced dead. An investigation revealed that the couple had consumed poison.
“This is a very sad story. People think that filing a false police report is a joke, but this time it proved to be deadly. Also, the son and daughter-in-law will have to live with the guilt for the rest of their lives,” Michelle Cooper, 31, of Scottsdale, Arizona told YourJewishNews.com after being asked to comment on the suicide incident.
After the incident, the neighbors gathered and demanded that Adhisayam and Chitra leave the neighborhood as they had caused the death of the elderly couple, following the false police report.
